Own Project

Time Scale

12 months

Location

Heamoor, Penzance

Description

We purchased a dilapidated former petrol station and car showroom in the middle of a residential area in Heamoor. Our vision was for a terrace of eight, three storey town houses to be built.

A challenging development standing alongside terraced houses in the middle of a small village. Before any building work could begin, the existing premises had to be demolished and the underground petrol tanks, carefully excavated and removed.

Throughout the development – to build these modern timber frame energy efficient homes– we were in discussion with local residents to ensure the project had minimal impact upon their day to day lives

Work Involved

Initially we need to acquire the planning and development permissions to carry out the project.

Arrange the clean up of the contaminated garage site and disposal of the contaminated waste.

Emphasis on energy efficiency through the build and process and through elements such as technically advanced insulation
Timber frame.

Confined build site in residential area – so mindful of ‘neighbours’

Features

  • Arranged specialist removal of petrol tanks and other contaminated waste
  • Front of development site was pile driven to provide enhanced ground stability for the foundations
